by Maria Nunzia @Varvera
Maria Nunzia is an artist with a long involvement in cultural industries. She has worked in the music industry, collaborating with musicians writing and performing her own material in the UK and New York; she has also managed and promoted bands. In America she developed a style of narrative painting on wood inspired by primitive art and in Britain her painting evolved through an interest in place, internal landscape, memory, imagination, mood and intuition and she began exhibiting. This work led to an enthusiasm for photography, particularly of the natural world. Her photographs are best known from the Guardian’s Country Diary web page and her pen and ink line drawings illustrating Field Notes from the Edge by Paul Evans are published by Rider Books (June 2015). As an artist concerned with Nature, social and environmental justice, she embraced social media, curating on line magazines and promoting other writers and artists.

Paul Evans is the author of Field Notes From The Edge, Journeys Through Britain's Secret Wilderness and Herbaceous:
Field Notes From The Edge a Journey into Britain's Secret Wild...through the in-between spaces of Nature – such as strandlines, mudflats, cliff tops and caves – where one wilderness is on the verge of becoming another and all things are possible.
Herbaceous is gardening with words. It is a book of audacious botany and poetic vision which asks us to look anew at our relationship with plants and celebrates their power to nourish the human spirit. - See more at:
